listen to your hands

I had been spending far too many hours on a computer. first for my job, and then more, toiling in Illustrator. I was trying to build the zine and it was not coming. everything on the screen looked dead and uninspired. I could not find the life in it. I was pushing.

Then, this came through.

start using your hands more.
your hands will show you the way.
your hands will translate the intellect.
listen to your hands.

5/1/25 journal entry

One of those things that just shows up on the page. I wrote it, but I didn’t write it. a wisdom beyond me. or maybe my own voice, the one that resides below my neck.

I heeded the call and began hand sewing. It took a minute to fall into a groove, to let go of the other voice screaming this is fucking useless. you are wasting your time. get back to work.

But now I’m doing it near daily, watching it quietly unfold. It’s reminding me how much I love tedium. I am finding a pulse.
